COL welcomes Commonwealth Secretary-General to HQ

COL staff, along with Professor Asha Kanwar, welcomed The Right Honourable Patricia Scotland KC, Commonwealth Secretary-General and a member of the COL Board of Governors, to its headquarters on 7 February 2023, where she reviewed COL’s activities and discussed areas of mutual interest. These included improving access to education, the expanding role of open, distance and e-learning, new strategies for supporting and investing in the blue economy, the Commonwealth Living Lands Charter, as well as progress towards sustainable development and the SDG targets.

The Secretary-General noted that COL’s strengths in open, distance and online learning had helped Member States remain resilient during Covid-19. Despite the pandemic, the volume of digital economic transactions within the Commonwealth has continued to rise.
