Supporting financial inclusion in Tanzania

A Tanzanian youth showing operation of swiping machineIn Tanzania, women and girls, including those with disabilities, often face discrimination and unequal gender roles. But positive changes are taking place. Through the application of financial technology, these individuals are now gaining opportunities for social and economic empowerment, including via savings, credit, payments and financial literacy.

The Youth Alliance for Progress Organization, through funding and technical support from COL, is introducing the GIRLS Inspire Project in Tanzania’s Kilosa and Gairo districts. The project’s goal is to foster sustainable livelihoods for women, girls and persons with disabilities by facilitating their access to microcredit to gain empowerment and employment.
