Hello!! Friends in our last class we were discussing about the communication skills for entrepreneurship development. N this class we will be playing a game, the name of the game is broken squares. With the help of this game we will try to understand certain important issue which has direct bearing on the concept of entrepreneurship.
The objectives with which we are going to play this game is to demonstrate the dynamics of collaboration in tasks that require collaboration from different individuals. As an entrepreneur we will be facing good numbers of such situations. Then the second objective is to help participants recognize their own tendencies to collaborate and compete. Where we should enter into collaboration and where we need to start competing with each other so those line we will try to identify with the help of this game. The third and the most important objective of this event is to help participants develop their sensitivity to the needs of the group, make sacrifice for the group effectiveness and joint problem solving. So this is the major concern as far as the Indian conditions is considered where the population measure is so high and we have enough problems so that the moment we enter into joint problem solving we can overcome good numbers of problem. Now coming to the rules of this game. The first and the foremost rule is none of the participant is going to speak each other. You are not allowed to speak to each other. No member can ask another member for a piece in any way signal another person to give him a piece or whatever it is. But voluntarily another participant can think that this is going to fit into that situation so that he himself is going to voluntarily offer pieces for making the perfect square. Each one of you will be getting one cover containing four pieces of paper. By using four pieces you will have to make a perfect square and all the five square should be of equal size but the moment you get the cover you open the pieces obviously with those four pieces you cannot make a perfect square, you need to exchange the pieces but you will be observed during those processes, how you are exchanging and to what extent that you are involving yourself into this activity. Now let us start with this activity

I hope now you are realizing the importance of verbal communication. Non verbal communication is not working much. But the verbal may solve the problem.
So at any point of time did you feel frustrated? Yes, sir. So why that frustration was there/because of no verbal communication, because of lack of communication, because you are not able to communicate so that is why you are feeling frustrated. Very good ..then.. we cheated some where we gave some hint to each other but we are okay. Because the person who makes a first attempt to be an entrepreneur is also facing similar situations. There are good numbers of rules and regulations imposed by various authorities but for one or the other reasons he tries to take to via media to of that. Similarly, we have also done the similar effort here. But how difficult it is to follow the rules? I hope now you are through with that. Yes. We were talking of computation and collaboration. Where you feeling to go for computation or to collaboration? At some point of time you said that No, nobody can take this from this. Yes sir. It means an inter competative mode. But externally I want to collaborate. All my team members should complete this task but without taking pieces from my square, because I have completed my task. Isn’t it. Yes sir. So is it a collaboration? No. It is rather competition. So that is a difference between these two. Okay, so can you narrate your experience out of this?
Sir, it’s a very good experience. I come to know about the importance of verbal communication and also sharing..thank you.
We come across many difficulties but even then somehow we manage to complete this task and we realize the importance of mutual understanding and mutual communication.
And especially the fourth object that we are sharing we are discussing about. So, how to respond to the needs of the group. Because when I am in trouble I expect that everybody should support me help me but when my other members of the team are in trouble or in need so what is my response to that. At that point of time also I am feeling that somebody should help him. But not myself. Sharwan will feel that so and so is in trouble so Abhishek should go there. Why not you? So, that is what is responding to the groups needs. Most of the times this is what our normal behavior. The moment we identify this type of behavior in our own actions so then we can easily modify that. But many times unknowingly we are behaving in that way. So we have to become aware of our own actions. That’s what is the purpose of this event. The moment I am aware of my own action so that I can modify it very easily. So for that thing awareness is very very important. Because as an entrepreneur at many levels you are expected to enter into cooperation as well as collaboration. You need to interact with good number of professionals at different circumstances.
Thank You
